Issue 19 | August 08 | Dog Star

Submitted by Jenn Turner on Tue, 08/05/2008 - 3:31pm.
Recently, I learned that the reason they're referred to as "the dog days of August" is because the Dog Star is the most visible star in the sky during this month. Around here, the brightest star we have on the schedule is a discussion with the CTO (that's Chief Technical Officer), of skinnyCorp - the folks responsible for an awesome site called Threadless (and many others), Harper Reed. So all you designers and technologists and anybody who really grooves on cool t-shirts should get your tushies down here to listen and ask him boatloads of questions. We've posted the schedule here. A great deal of PR work was done for this event by Al Krueger of Comet Branding, and Steve Glynn of Spreenkler so we'd like to take a moment to say thank you to both Al and Steve.
The next event that we're really excited about is the Urban Sprawl art show which will be here on the 23rd. This show focuses on Graffiti art as a "serious art form". I've always though it was some serious stuff. The trains at the Milwaukee harbor exhibit some serious work from all over the country so we're pretty excited to see it here. This show, hosted by Why Not? Gallery will feature live on-site graffiti work. We're thinking of putting the artists down on 6th St.
This week's Movie on the Square at Bayshore Town Center is Dr. No Wednesday, August 6 at Dusk
