Local Theatre Group Keeps Shakespeare’s Cycle Alive with HENRY V

Submitted by James Carlson on Thu, 04/02/2009 - 10:59pm.
Quasi-Productions is proud to announce its production of Henry V, Shakespeare’s final chapter of the Hundred Years’ War between England and France. Audiences will witness the transformation of former prank-playing scoundrel Prince Hal into triumphant war hero King Henry V, one of England’s most beloved—and shortest lived—national heroes.
Henry V opens in Marquette University’s Helfaer Theatre on May 28. Under the direction of Todd Denning, a familiar face to Milwaukee Shakespeare audiences, Shakespeare’s history play will transport audiences to the courts, taverns, and battlefields of the 15th century.
Quasi’s Artistic Director, Tom Reed, notes that Milwaukee Shakespeare, which closed its doors in January, had found eager audiences for the first two installments. “Milwaukee Shakespeare reminded people how rich and thrilling Shakespeare’s history plays can be,” says Reed. “Now, people want to hear the rest of the story, and we have assembled a brilliant group of Milwaukee’s own to bring it to life.”
