Issue 05 | March 08 In Your Easter Bucket...

Director's Blog
First, I hope you all had a very happy Easter.
There's a few exciting things going on around here that I wanted to make note of:
* TMJ4 was here filming on the 14th - keep your eyes peeled Friday, March 28th at 10:00pm. We might be there!
* Zeitgeist screened on March 15th - it's sparked some interesting conversation on the site, pro member Andrew Ingrelli promises Subversive Saturdays @ Bucketworks. Can't wait to see what's next, Andrew!
* Web414 has my inbox all a-Twitter with Google alerts, check 'em out, aside from being fairly prolific they're an interesting bunch of "passionate and creative technical people" who enjoy "fun and exciting party atmospheres".
* Quasi-Cafe Comestibles coming Monday, March 31st! Remember, they're open 11:00am - 2:00pm, Monday - Friday. We encourage you to stop by for a coffee or tasty sandwich.

Here at Bucketworks, we'll be turning out our lights and light tables and computers and cameras for an hour, but we're still inviting you inside. Come to the playspace-- and bring your environmentally-friendly flashlight or camping lantern, spend some time with the folks who use Bucketworks on a regular basis, tell campfire stories, sing songs, have a round-table discussion on global warming. We'll be taking donations for the World Wildlife Fund as well.

Pangea Day Saturday, May 10 at 10:00am This event taps the power of film to strengthen tolerance and compassion while uniting millions of people to build a better future. In a world where people are often divided by borders, difference, and conflict, it’s easy to lose sight of what we all have in common. Pangea Day seeks to overcome that – to help people see themselves in others – through the power of film. On May 10, 2008 – Pangea Day – sites in Cairo, Dharamsala, Kigali, London, New York City, Ramallah, Rio de Janeiro, and Tel Aviv will be videoconferenced live to produce a 4-hour program of powerful films, visionary speakers, and uplifting music. The program will be broadcast live to the world through the Internet, television, digital cinemas, and mobile phones. Of course, movies alone can’t change the world. But the people who watch them can. So following May 10, 2008, Pangea Day organizers will facilitate community-building activities around the world by connecting inspired viewers with numerous organizations which are already doing groundbreaking work.
District 1 Crime Meeting Tuesday June 17, 5:30pm – 6:30pm Bucketworks is proud to host this opportunity for community members to gather and discuss crime concerns that are effecting the District 1 community.
